The Pompadour by Galvin, held on Saturday 7 September 2013
Hosted by Cape Winemakers Guild (CWG) member Niels Verburg of Luddite Winery, the evening began with a glass of Cap Classique and canapés, together with a tasting of selected wines that were soon to go under the hammer at the highly prestigious CWG annual auction, which takes place this year in Stellenbosch on Saturday 5 October.
Niels has been making world class Shiraz at his boutique winery in the village of Bot River, approximately 50 miles east of Cape Town, since 1999.
Accompanying Niels will be by Andrew Gunn of Iona Wines; producer of some exceptional cool-climate white wines. The winery is named after the spiritual west coast Scottish island where Andrew can trace his ancestry back to the Viking landings of the 900s.
The tasting was followed with a 5-course gourmet dinner cooked by Craig Sandle and Jeff Galvin, which will be served with matching wines Only 20 places were available for this unique and unmissable evening for wine connoisseurs.
