New Zealand Wine Dinner with Kevin Judd of Greywacke

7pm, Wednesday 21st June
£89 per person (including wines)

We’re honoured to be joined by Kevin Judd, one of Marlborough’s pioneer winemakers whose career is intrinsically linked with the global profile of New Zealand wine.

Kevin, our host for what promises to be a memorable evening, was born in England and grew up in Australia, where he studied winemaking at Roseworthy College and first made wine at Reynella in South Australia.

His label is the fulfilment of a long held dream. The name Greywacke was adopted by Kevin and his wife Kimberley for their first Marlborough vineyard located in Rapaura, named in recognition of the high prevalence of rounded greywacke river stones in the soils of the vineyard. He registered the name back in 1993 with the vague notion that he might one day want to use it on a wine label of his own.

The Greywacke portfolio is primarily based on two varieties, sauvignon blanc and pinot noir; the sauvignon blanc being produced in two distinctly different styles. In addition to this core range
of three wines, there are also limited edition releases of chardonnay, and three aromatic varieties – pinot gris, riesling and gewurztraminer.

We’re delighted to present a 5-course menu paired with 5 wines chosen by Kevin. Click here to view the menu.

This promises to be a popular event with this iconic winemaker. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Mullineux Wine Dinner

7pm, Thursday 20th July
£85 per person (including wines)

Join us for an exclusive wine dinner at The Pompadour with South African estate Mullineux.

Established in 2007, Mullineux quickly gained a reputation as one of South Africa’s most celebrated wine brands, both locally and on the international front. By 2016 they had received seventeen 5-star ratings from Platter’s South African Wine Guide, as well as being awarded Red Wine of the Year in 2013 and 2016, and Winery of the Year in 2014 and 2016.
The family winery based near the village of Riebeek Kasteel, in the Swartland region of South Africa. They produce a select range of hand-crafted wines from the granite and shale based soils of the area. Their aim is to bottle wines that are a true expression of the Swartland. All steps of their winemaking process are taken with this aim in mind and they pay the highest possible attention to detail to everything they do. A natural, minimalist approach is followed both in the vineyards and cellar.

They work closely with a select group of growers who follow sustainable, reasoned farming practices. In the cellar, apart from minimal amounts of sulphur, nothing is added to, or removed from the wines. Mullineux do not make use of any yeasts, acids, tannins, enzymes, or fining and filtering agents.

Our head chef Daniel Ashmore has created an exquisite 5-course menu paired with some of the finest vintages from the estate. Please click here to view the menu.
The evening will be hosted by Douglas Wood, the owner and founder of WoodWinters Wines & Whiskies. Since opening their first store just 10 years ago they have been recognised as Scotland's top independent wine merchant with 3 stores across the country they also supply hotels, restaurants and private clients across the UK.

Douglas moved from a successful career in Chemical Engineering into wine after developing his private passion for travel and wine and being invited to judge at some of the most prestigious wine competitions in the UK. Sourcing exceptional wines from many small artisan growers is only achieved first-hand and Doug has visited South Africa many times.
